We may be biased, okay we are definitely biased, but Campus Bound students are the best. We are so lucky to have worked with some pretty amazing students over the years. For this week’s blog, we decided to tap into the experience and knowledge of our former Campus Bound clients to see what advice they have for students currently going through the process, or who are about to go through it.
I asked a few select current college students/ former Campus Bound clients: “What advice do you have for other students about the college application process? Is there anything you would have done differently? What are you glad you did?” Here are their responses:
College Student #1: To answer the “What I’m glad I did” question, I’m really glad that I kept my options open and kept an open mind because initially I only wanted to look at schools in the south but I kept an open mind and now I’m so happy at BC, which I wouldn’t have even considered if I stuck to what I wanted when I started the process.
College Student #2: I recommend that you try to stay calm while remaining motivated. There is a certain extent of luck to the process so there is no point in stressing yourself out constantly. On the other hand, it is important to follow all of your college counselor’s deadlines and stay as focused as possible. This way, you have the best chance of reaching your goal and regardless of the outcome, know you gave it your all.
College Student #3: I wish I had started earlier, over the summer. I felt busy over the summer but it was nothing compared to the stress of the fall of senior year. I put off my essays and applications. I still got everything done on time, thanks to my Campus Bound counselor, but it would have been nice to start earlier.
College Student #4: It all works out the way it’s supposed to, and if it doesn’t you can always transfer, so don’t stress. I love my school, but a few of my friends have transferred and it’s no big deal. Try to make the best of the school you end up at, obviously, but its okay if you need to change.
College Student #5: I thought I wanted a larger school, but I am at a small college now and I love it. I am glad that I kept my options open and applied to a good variety of schools because at first I wasn’t really sure what I wanted. I ended up at the best place for me.
Listen to those who recently went through the process, but tailor their advice to fit you and your circumstances. You have a Campus Bound counselor for a reason; we are here to help and guide you through the process so you can have a positive application experience like these students here.
