Scholarships & Grants
The colleges are the other major source of grants and scholarships. Colleges may offer this “free” money based on merit qualifications or based on need-requirements. Merit scholarships based on GPA, SAT/ACT, or class rank may also be available to incoming freshmen. We maintain an updated list of available awards by school, so when you choose your target colleges, we can work this fact into the equation. The forms required may differ from school to school so be sure to read the fine print of the materials published by each college. Private scholarships and grants are financial vehicles that may be worth considering for your student. Private scholarships get a lot of press but in reality make up less than 5% of all financial aid. Generally these scholarships and grants are awarded by Chambers of Commerce, trade unions, libraries, charitable foundations, PTA’s, churches, and fraternal organizations. But again, it’s a balancing act, since colleges may regard these as resources and deduct financial aid they provide. Whatever your financial situation, we can help you identify and evaluate the many different financing options, help you accurately complete all forms, and make sure all deadlines are met. So whether you need assistance with securing aid for college or with the entire search, selection and application process, contact Campus Bound to learn how we can help. |

Scholarships and grants are the best type of financial aid since you don’t have to pay them back. There are two main sources of scholarships and grants. The federal and state governments have a number of different programs – most notably the Pell grant. Many of the government grant programs are offered to lower income families and you apply by completing your FAFSA.
