Meet Peggy and Bill

With twins now at the end of their junior year of high school in Raleigh, NC, they were worried about the high cost of college and what they perceived to be a real lack of support from the guidance department at the school.

Each counselor works with over 200 students and their daughters had only been able to have one short meeting with them.  Peggy and Bill understood the importance of finding the right school for both their girls, and had done some research online at the library, but had no idea where to begin.  Both girls did well in school, but sometimes struggled with standardized tests.  They had considered tutors and test prep services, but really wanted to find someone who understood the ins and outs of the college selection process.

Campus Bound spent several hours on the phone and corresponded via email with each daughter to gain an understanding of what they felt was important in a college and to identify and research appropriate colleges.  We set up a plan for visiting the schools and gave each girl ideas on what to look for to determine if a school was a good match.  Campus Bound also determined that even with an income of greater than $160,000 annually, the family would be eligible for aid at some of their target schools and encouraged them to apply for financial aid.  Campus Bound also assigned an SAT tutor for one-on-one tutoring that helped the girls’ test scores rise significantly and increased their chances for acceptance and merit scholarships.
