Meet Eric

Eric knows that he hasn’t applied himself during high school but thinks he can turn it around in college.   He is not a strong writer and is worried about the application essay.   During the initial conversation with Campus Bound, Eric’s mother Jan expressed a concern that he is extremely social and he may lose his focus if he goes to a school with too much of a “party atmosphere”.

The Campus Bound counselor took Jan’s input into consideration along with what Eric was looking for in a school.   We identified several schools that have a strong system for supporting students that tend to struggle academically.   The list also included schools that based on our experience working with students like Eric would fit from a non-academic standpoint. 

The Campus Bound counselor spent a lot of time with Eric on the essay to make sure the topic explained his lower than desirable grades and expressed a side of Eric that wouldn’t have otherwise been visible to the colleges.    Eric did a good job writing his essay and after some grammatical cleanup fit well with the rest of his profile.
